Voters in the newly drawn Assembly District 80 are lucky to have the opportunity to vote for Nasra Wehelie in the upcoming primary August 13.
Wehelie has accomplished much on the Madison City Council and through many community organizations during her 30 years in Wisconsin. I have known her for 17 years and worked with her at the Grassroots Leadership College, CORE, the Center for Progressive Leadership, and on Muslim-Jewish relations.
I have been impressed and moved by her openness, deep listening, bravery, humility, insight, kindness, and faith. She has an amazing ability to bring people together to get things done, both in a community and across boundaries of difference. In today’s polarized political environment, Wehelie is the kind of leader we need. Visit her campaign website at nasraforwi.com to learn more about her experience, endorsements, and priorities, including housing, reproductive rights, job creation, education, and the environment.

Wisconsin ranks as one of the worst states for Black residents and is rated "D+" for women's representation in our state Legislature. Now that we have fair maps, we can elect more progressive women of color such as Wehelie, who will fight for equity and justice for all communities.
